It was the end of the December 2019 when an unknown type of Pneumonia was reported by China to the WHO that was detected in the city of Wuhan, Hubei province. How Is Coronavirus Spread?

COVID-19 spreads from person to person through droplets. For example if you are standing less than 6-feet from COVID-19 infected and if they cough or sneeze, the droplets can end up on you.  The other way it spreads is through hard surfaces. If someone infected with COVID-19 coughs on sneezes on hard surfaces such as tables, door knobs and publicly used lifts etc. Someone touches that hard surface and later if they touch their mouth or nose the virus can enter into their system.

Is COVID-19 Pandemic?

Until now WHO have not been labeling it a pandemic. A pandemic is a worldwide spread of a disease. But yes in some cases it appears a pandemic.

Does Coronavirus go away?

About 4 out 5 patients who were treated have been healthy. So many people can actually get rid of it.

Can Coronavirus be cured?

As of right now, there is not a particular medicine that can actually treat CONVID-19. But there are medicines that can control the symptoms of it such as severe cold, Pneumonia or severe fever.

Why is COVID-19 worse than the flu?

The big factor about COVID-19 is its new and there has not been a lot of research done on it. So for now, there is no immunity from it. Since, flu is very old we have immunity from it as there are vaccines available to cure it.

Technically, Coronavirus attaches its cells to our body and increases mucous production which often impacts our lower respiratory tract causing sneezing, coughing, fevers, nausea and in worst cases pneumonia and vomiting. The severest of all happens when the patient feels shortness of breath.

COVID-19 symptoms are very similar to the flu’s. In 80% of cases it is nearly indistinguishable from the flu. It is really weird to know that initially there could be no symptoms at all or having Fever, Cough or Shortness of breath.

Has COVID-19 peaked in the USA?

It is still uncertain at this point. As the tests have not been carried out on a greater scale as they have in Singapore, South Korea and China. There has not been a lot of research done on it. There are no real data models that how COVID-19 is going to behave. Soon all this will be cleared.

When will COVID-19 end?

No doctor or researcher in the world knows about its end yet. Public Health experts believe there are three potential outcomes that could happen.

1- The COVID-19 can actually be contained through the public health interventions and through it it can potentially disappear. The very similar to how SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) in the past was contained.

2- If a vaccine could be developed it could curb the spread of the virus.

3- COVID-19 could continue spreading further and further and end up being a circulating virus that is just is in our environment.

Who is more likely to get Coronavirus easily?

The CDC (The Center For Disease Control And Prevention) believe that children are not at higher risk to get infected with COVID-19. Some older adults are those who have been battling chronic medical conditions such as Heart Diseases, Diabetes, Lung Diseases and Suppressed Immune Systems.

How to protect the family from Cornoavirus? 

There are no vaccines developed to curb coronavirus but there are few very important things that one should do to protect family.

1- Wash hands with a soap and water for 20 or 30 seconds. However, an alcoholic sanitizer with 60% or 70% of alcohol is ideal.

2- Keep the children away from sick members of family specially if they are old and sick.

3- Teach kids to always use a tissue for a sneeze or cough and throw it after single use. If the tissue is not available just sneeze into the arm or elbow but not hands.

4- Keep the house clean by making sure to have it disinfected with sprays and wipes.

5- Avoid touching the face, mouth or nose.

6- Do avoid travelling outside

Are masks useful?

It is better if the COVID-19 infected people wear masks rather than the whole public. This way they are more useful.
