24 was a huge success for Fox. Each season of the political thriller covered a day in the hectic and impossibly action-packed life of CTU (Counter Terrorist Unit) agent Jack Bauer, as he helped thwart terrorist plots, including cyber attacks, acts of bioterrorism, presidential assassinations and attacks involving weapons of mass destruction. The show aired the final episode of its eighth season in 2010, then returned as 24: Live Another Day, a 12-episode mini-series, in 2014. It was then announced that a pilot would be made of a 24 spin-off called 24: Legacy.
When’s it on?
Right now the show is still in the pilot stage. There’s no guarantee it will get picked up, though given the impressive ratings of 24: Live Another Day, it’s pretty certain 24: Legacy will be picked up and aired at some point.
What’s it about?
So far we know that 24: Legacy will be about American military hero Eric Carter, who returns home and is plagued by trouble. He turns to CTU for help and becomes involved in preventing one of the largest ever terrorist attacks on American soil. The show will touch on a lot of contemporary issues, including radicalisation and sleeper cells.
Who’s in it?
The cast of 24: Legacy will be completely new to the world of 24, so there won’t be any familiar faces for fans of the show to recognize. Sadly, that means no Jack or Chloe. Corey Hawkins will play Eric Carter and Ashley Thomas will play his older brother Isaac; the two brothers have a somewhat strained relationship because of their history with Eric’s wife Nicole, played by Anna Diop. Miranda Otto will play Rebecca Ingram, former head of CTU and wife of presidential candidate John Donovan, who will be played by Jimmy Smits. The CTU boss, Keith Mullins, will be played by Teddy Sears and Coral Pena and Dan Bucstinsky will play the roles of CTU agents Gia and Andy respectively.
How many episodes will there be?
24: Legacy will consist of 12 episodes, much like the last season 24: Live Another Day. These 12 episodes will span the course of a single day and will be set in real time, with a time jump somewhere to cover the missing 12 hours.
