If there’s anything that’s sure great about a lot of wild animals, it’s that when they decide that you’re their mum, that is pretty much for life. The most recent case of this happening is when an Australian Police Officer has gone ahead and adopted a baby Kangaroo into his life and kept him at the Police Station.
The joey had been found in the pouch of its dead mother, who had been hit by a truck in a remote part of Western Australia. Constable Scott Mason found him and decided to take him in and raise him himself rather than give him into an animal sanctuary, zoo or let him loose again.
Since then, the internet has been blessed with videos and pictures of the joey living with Constable Mason and treating him like it’s real mother.
If that isn’t the most adorable video you’ve seen this week then we’d like to know what tops it!
Mason has said: “It’s very dehydrated and skinny, but we’re doing what we can.” Looks like that little joey was lucky to have been found by Constable Mason for sure.
Since this video went live, Constable Mason has named the little joey ‘Cuejo’ and he has officially adopted it and had it move in with him. It also goes to work with him and remains in the office with the other police officers whilst he’s out on duty.
However, what’s most astonishing is that Cuejo may have competition has Mason’s wife had recently given birth also and therefore, was also raising a newborn at the same time s her husband.
The little joey will need to be fed every three hours until it is weaned by 18 months old, so it will be Mason’s baby quite a little while yet.
Mason has said that he would like to start a wildlife rescue centre in the town, where he moved six weeks ago. Let’s hope that comes true and him and Cuejo can be the first entrees.
