See What Scientists Say About People Who Lay In, Lazy Or Smart?

We all know somebody that could happily sleep in until late afternoon and still somehow be tired, alarms are their worst nightmare and making plans with them anytime before 2 in the afternoon is yours! Naturally, we just pass these people off as being super lazy and dumb to waste their lives sleeping in and slothing around, but are our opinions of our lazy friends completely wrong?

If you are that person then you’re in for some brilliant news, to shoot all the early rising haters down because science is on your side! If your answer normally consists of a response that is a bed or sleep related then read on! Science has now decided that waking up early and being seemingly productive does not correlate with intellect or creativity, in fact, it is the complete opposite and the late sleepers and tired bunch are actually scientifically deemed more creative and intellectual… woo lets all nap!

Research collected at the University of Madrid showed pupils that went to bed later and, therefore, woke up later were actually more intelligent than those who have a socially ‘normal’ sleeping pattern as these people scored an overall lower IQ score than the sleepy participants! Once more, it is considered more creative and intelligent of people that deviate from our societal social norms, which in this case are ‘normal’ sleeping hours. By creating a new and different sleeping pattern for yourself, you would be considered more creative, brave and progressive.

Marina Giampietro delved deeper into this area and looked at creativity through the development of the ‘non-conventional spirit’ and problem-solving to find original answers and solutions. From her sample of men and woman, all of mixed age ranges, guess which band came out on top? Of course, it was the late sleeping ‘lazy’ people!

Marina Giampietro went on to say, ‘It’s all about what you’re doing with the time you have. Yes, early birds might be more productive, but late risers are more creative.

Early risers take advantage of those morning hours to do mundane activities like go to the gym, make coffee and get to work early, but it’s the late sleepers who really take advantage of the night — the special time to create and invent something new.’

So there you have it, the answer really must be to take a nap and you’ll be sure to get those creative juices flowing!
