We all love to hear about a celebrity scandal, but some celebrities have a scandalous past that most of us have no idea about!
From attempted murder to credit card fraud, did you know about these celebs with a criminal record? You might just be shocked:
1. Will Smith
Our favourite Prince of Bel Air hasn’t always been a good guy as Will Smith is a celeb with a criminal record. In 1989 Will Smith, who was 20 at the time, was arrested for aggravated assault which nearly left a man blind in one eye.
The Hollywood star was charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault, and criminal conspiracy at the time and spent the night in jail. All charges were dropped though.
2. Mark Wahlberg
As far as celebs with criminal records go, Mark Wahlberg’s is probably the most shocking. Not many people realise that Wahlberg was once charged with attempted murder.
Mark Wahlberg attacked two Vietnamese men with a stick when he was just 16 years old – an assault that left a man blind in one eye. Wahlberg pleaded guilty to assault, which dropped the attempted murder charge. He was sentenced to two years in prison but spent just 45 days behind bars.
3. Jay Z
Jay Z might be both husband and father of the year, but he hasn’t always been a saint. Back in 1999 Jay Z got into a fight in a club which resulted in the rapper stabbing a record executive in the stomach.
Jay Z pleaded guilty to assault and was given three years’ probabtion.
4. Bruno Mars
Bruno Mars might want to be a billionaire but, at the moment, he’s just a celeb with a criminal record. The Uptown Funk singer was arrested in 2010 and charged with possessing cocaine.
Mars was fined $2,000 and sentenced to 200 hours of community service.
5. Cheryl Fernandez-Versini (Cheryl Cole)
The X-Factor judge might look as sweet as pie, but Cheryl has a sordid past as a celeb with a criminal record. She was charged with racially aggravated assault just a few weeks after she won her place in Girls Aloud.
The singer attacked a toilet attendant in a club and although the racially aggravated part of her charge was dropped she still had to complete 120 hours of community service.
6. Stephen Fry
Finding out that Stephen Fry was a rebellious youth was like finding out Albus Dumbledore was naughty in his teenage years. But it’s true! When he was 17 Stephen Fry was arrested for credit card fraud after he went wild with a family member’s credit card.
The writer was sentenced to 3 months in prison on remand.
