Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential election shocked many as Hillary Clinton was widely expected to win. Clinton is well-known to many thanks to her decades of political experience, including her eight-year stint as First Lady and four-year stint as Secretary of State. Trump, on the other hand, is a bit less familiar to some people, so we thought we’d round up some photos of him when he was younger so you can get to know the future president a bit better.

Trump as a child
The 45th president pictured here as a young child. He was born in 1946 in Jamaica, Queens, and was the second youngest of five children born to Mary Anne and Fred Trump. He is of Scottish ancestry on his mother’s side and German ancestry on his father’s side.
2.ย Days at the New York Military Academy
Trump, centre, in 1964ย at the New York Military Academy. He enrolled at the age of 13 and has since said that the school gave him more militaryย training than what some men in the military actually experience.
3. Graduation
Trump with has father Fred at hisย graduation ceremony in 1968. He graduated from the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics. It was while he was at university that he started working for hisย family’s real estate company, Elizabeth Trump and Son.
4.ย Father’s Day

5.ย First wife becomes a US citizen

Trump’s first son, Donald Trump Jr., was born in 1977. Here he is pictured with his father in 1988. Trump has a total of five children: Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric with first wife Ivana, Tiffany with second wife Marla and Barron with third (and current) wife Melania.
7. Parents
This photo shows Trump with has parents Mary Anne and Fred in 1994. His father passed away in 1999 at the age of 93, his mother in 2000 at the age of 88.
