Things aren’t always want they seem to be, especially when it comes to everyday products you use. What you thought had a clear-cut function, actually may have had a different purpose when it was first created.
8. 1. Play-Doh
Would you believe it? Play-Doh, or Silly Putty, was originally used as a wallpaper cleaner in the 1930s! It removed coal residue from the walls as most people had coal fires back then. But as soon as gas heating was introduced, sales of Play-Doh started to decline. It was only when one teacher allowed the classroom use Play-Doh as modelling clay, the product became reworked into what we know it as today.
