8 Actors Replacements No One Noticed

Casting for TV shows is always complicated. Even if you have the perfect cast signed on to do a show, there’s always the chance that at some stage further down the line, someone could quit or even be fired. If the actor leaves for whatever reason, sometimes their character is retired, but there’s always the chance that the character is simply played by someone else. Here are 8 actors who got replaced only for no-one to notice.

  1. Jeremy Gelbwaks

Jeremy (on the left) originally played younger brother Chris in The Partridge Family, though he was replaced by Brian Forster after one season for supposedly being a nuisance on set. Only a single fan letter was received asking why the actor had been replaced.

2. Jaden and Ella Hiller

Twins Jaden and Ella (left and centre) originally shared the role of Lily in Modern Family, though after two seasons they decided they didn’t enjoy acting so much and left. Aubrey Anderson-Emmons took over and has been playing the role from season three onwards.

3. Ed Skrein

Ed (on the left) played Daario Naharis in Game of Thrones during seasons three and four, though he left to take on a lead role in The Transporter Refueled. The role was recast, with Michiel Huisman taking over.

4. Anita Barone

Anita (on the right) appeared in Friends as Ross’ ex-wife Carol, though for only one episode. In all subsequent appearances, the character was played by a different actress, Jane Sibbett.

5. Shailene Woodley

Shailene appeared in The O.C. as Kaitlin Cooper, the younger sister of Mischa Barton’s character Marissa. She only appeared in six episodes before being replaced Willa Holland.

6. Alicia ‘Lecy’ Goranson

Alicia (on the left) played the role of Becky in Roseanne from 1988 to 1996, though when she went to college, she reduced her workload and appeared in fewer episodes. When her other commitments became too much, they had another actress, Sarah Chalke, take over the role. The show’s producers then had Goranson shoot some more episodes once she was free, but then when she was unavailable yet again, Chalke took over once more.

7. Lacey Chabert

Lacey (on the left), best known as Gretchen Weiners in Mean Girls, originally voiced Family Guy’s Meg Griffin. She only lasted one season and had to step down from the role due to other commitments, with Mila Kunis voicing the ever-awkward teenager from season two onwards.

8. Janet Hubert

Janet (on the left) played matriarch Vivian Banks in The Fresh Prince of Bel Air from 1990 to 1993 and was replaced by the very similar-looking Daphne Maxwell Reid from 1993 till the show’s end in 1996. Hubert supposedly dropped out because she didn’t get on too well with the show’s star Will Smith.
