Tons of children grow up with the dream of being able to shoot into space in a rocket and become an astronaut. For many, this is a distant dream and often given up on as it is normally very far from being a realistic occupation… until now!
The dream to become an astronaut is no longer out of reach as NASA are looking for some fresh faces to join their team. Back in 2011, they conducted a hugely successful space shuttle programme, to help normal people fulfil their dreams of spaceflight, and now they are starting a brand new programme to make these dreams possible again.
NASA have said, in recent press conferences, interviews and releases that there are just 47 active astronauts that are currently working for them so they are in need for a bigger team to grow. Once more, for the future missions they have up their sleeves including the recent Mars revelations, they will be expanding their crew in order to make some huge achievements.
So, if you are now itching to get involved and fulfil those space dreams, you’ll be wondering how you can be considered for the role. Unfortunately, you do need a bachelors degree from an accredited institution with a focus in the field of engineering, biological sciences, mathematics or physical science. Additionally, if you want to be a more brownie points, you should have an advanced degree or qualifications such as a Masters. Passed all this? NASA’s desirable skills are that the candidates have at least three years experience in a relevant field, a strong skill set showing effective skills surrounding responsible professional experience. Once more, they would also consider someone with at least 1,000 hours spent flying as pilot in command of a jet aircraft!
So, if you have all of these skills, you are definitely in a strong position to live out those dreams and become a real spaceman or woman! You would be joining a team of some of the most intelligent and innovative people in the world and exploring depths of the Universe no man has been before! What could sound more amazing?
