These 9 Animals Will Outlive Humanity and You Will be Surprised to See Who They Are!

A lot of humanity seems to think that we will be around forever. However, little do they realise that there are many species that have thousands more, some even millions more years than us and there are plenty of animals in the world that will survive longer.

A video was recently uploaded to YouTube by channel, SciShow, that looks at 9 different animals that will outlive the human race. It’s a very interesting video¬†that¬†looks to dent the human race’s ego but at the same time fascinate us with some incredible scientific knowledge on different animals.

The idea is that these animals can all survive incredible conditions that humans cannot survive in. Therefore, the video looks at which post-apocalyptic conditions certain animals would survive.

The first condition that the video discusses is a sort of apocalyptic environment where there’s very little water and dry land everywhere. The Dromedary Camel would survive this well.

The next animal on the list apparently will NEVER need to drink water. The Merriam’s Kangaroo Rat never needs to drink water because they get enough hydration from the seeds they eat.

Continuing on the theme of the whole planet’s water supply becoming eradicated, the next animal would likely survive it all. The desert scavenger ant can survive in almost any earthly heat and when other animals cannot survive, it will feed on their corpses! Dark!

The next animal is barely even an animal. The giant tube worm lives so deeply underwater that it is one of the few living things on the planet that doesn’t require the sun to survive. In addition, it lives in gases and toxins that would kill almost every other life form on the planet.

But what if the planet got incredibly cold and froze over? Well, the antarctic toothfish would likely be fine as it offers up a gene within its body that actually works like antifreeze which helps it survive in its current environment of freezing temperatures.

What if there’s little food, water or anything left on the planet and need to wait a long time? Well, the Ocean Quahog is the ultimate survivor here then. There have been recorded Ocean Quahogs that have lived for up to 507 years old. This is thanks to a very slow metabolism and some genetic secret we are yet to discover.

The seventh animal on this list is literally called the Immortal Jellyfish. This jellyfish can literally age backwards as opposed to growing old and dying. The jellyfish is created from a Polyp which then transforms into a Medusa which is what we consider jellyfish. However, if the Medusa is harmed or starves, it can literally change back into a Polyp once again.

The next animal on the list is a bit of a cliche. Everybody always says that if the world was destroyed in a nuclear war then cockroaches would be the only thing to survive. This is, in fact true! Cockroaches can survive nuclear radiation up to 10x as strong as humans can.

The next animal on the list may well be one of the most fascinating on the planet. Bdelloid Rotifers are an animal that not only could survive radiation, but also reproduce asexually, so wouldn’t need no man. On top of this, Rotifers actually steal DNA from other species, allowing them to adapt to almost any environment they are dealt with.
