Finding a job these days is not as easy as most people seem to think. Everybody thinks that if somewhere is hiring that if you go in, you will get the job. However, many companies these days require so much more than just a simple CV that says you can speak the right language and you have a little knowledge in the field you’re applying for.
The video below absolutely epitomises this. It’s a basic drawn out cartoon uploaded by a YouTube channel called Casually Explained which offers up a view of what getting a job is really like.
The video covers problems such as needing five years experience for jobs despite the fact that the job is advertising the position as an “entry-level” position. This is something that a lot of people find these days. How can you get experience in a field of your liking if no one will hire you in the first place because they all still require experience. It’s a vicious circle really.
Next, the video covers the aging problem that if you attempt to go and work anywhere quite low-level just to earn yourself some money with any form of degree, then you’ll likely get told you’re overqualified for the position.
Next, the video covers, what if I go into a position where I have the qualifications but it might not need experience? Well, you often find that they’ve had hundreds of applications, all of whom have better qualities to their personality, their working history or even their CV to you.
If any of the problems faced in the video have happened to you, we’d love to know in the comments below. We know for sure that this is how a lot of jobs are working at the moment. That’s why it’s great that there are Post-grad opportunities now and other jobs offer a lesser wage for a year but offer training in their field and then bump your wage up for the next year.
