Smartphones are capable of doing so much these days that it’s safe to say, they’ve made us a lot lazier. We rely on them so much it’s hard to think of what life was like before they came around – if one thing’s certain, it was a bit more difficult! Here’s a list of 11 things we no longer do now we have smartphones.

Learn how to spell words properly
Why go through the trouble of learning how to spell something like ‘conscientious’ when you’ve got Autocorrect?
2. Have proper conversations
It’s much easier communicating over social media and apps.
3. Writing things by hand
Why go through the trouble of practising the handwriting you learned in school (if you even remember what it looks like) when you can just type away on your smartphone?
4. Use a printed map
Gone are the days of opening up a huge map, trying to find where you are and trying to work out how to get to where you want to be.
5. Remember people’s numbers
How many people’s numbers can actually recite without consulting your smartphone?
6. Remember people’s birthdays
There’s no point remembering the birthdays of your nearest and dearest when you can tell your smartphone to remind you when a birthday’s coming up.
7. Send post cards
Most of us use our smartphones to post updates of our holidays to social media, rather than going through the hassle of writing out a postcard and getting it sent.
8. Buy newspapers
Newspapers are full of yesterday’s news. Smartphones give you news that’s happening right now.
9. Have an alarm clock
When was the last time you relied on your alarm clock and not your smartphone to wake you up in the morning?
10. Look something up in an encyclopaedia
Why look through a big old book when you can do a quick Google search?
11. Make photo albums
We take countless photos on our smartphones and most of us are content with just having our photos on our phones and not getting them printed out.
