Lindsay Lohan’s most popular film is undoubtedly the amazing Mean Girls. It’s one of those films that’s so well written and has so many great lines (‘That’s so fetch!’) that it’s still popular and talked about 12 years after its release. Over the years she’s had various personal problems to deal with and her acting career hasn’t exactly gone as well as many would have hoped, so what’s she up to these days? Let’s have a look…
Acting
Over the years Lindsay’s personal issues and family problems have hindered her acting career to the point where she’s been unable to recapture the critical acclaim and recognition she earned for her role in Mean Girls. Many child stars have managed to sustain successful acting careers as adults, though Lindsay has been unable to do this. Her last starring role was in the 2013 film The Canyons, which received overwhelmingly negative reviews and got a limited release, though it managed to make a profit, albeit a small one. She made her stage debut in the West End in 2014, appearing in a production of Speed-the-Plow and received mix reviews. She’s set to star in the 2017 horror/thriller The Shadow Within but there appear to be no other acting projects in the pipeline.
Love life
Earlier in 2016, Lindsay got engaged to Russian property developer Egor Tarabasov, who’s also heir to his millionaire father’s fortune. The two got engaged but after a series of rows, including a public row on a beach in Mykonos, the two called it off. She then started seeing Dennis Papageorgiou, a Greek restaurant owner, though later told the press there wasn’t anything romantic going on and they just met up for work purposes.
Family and personal issues
Lindsay’s personal issues have been the stuff of tabloids for years and it’s safe to say they have overshadowed her career, whether it’s going to rehab, getting tangled up in legal complications or dealing with family issues. 2016 seems to have been a quieter year regarding family and personal issues, though she has appeared in the media for various reasons. Earlier in 2016, she told the press she was ‘exploring Islam’ and in October she almost lost half of her left-hand ring finger in an accident involving an anchor. She also moved to London and told the press she never wanted to live in Hollywood again – does this mean she’s thinking of quitting films altogether?
Where does she go from here?
Though Lindsay might not be starring in Hollywood films like she once was, she seems to be keeping busy. She might not be dominating the headlines like she was a few years ago, mainly because various things in her life appear to have calmed down, but there’s still enough interest in her that we still hear about her every now and then. Some think she’ll go down the reality TV route, whereas others think she’ll try to get more acting jobs in the UK. Whatever she does, it’s pretty certain we’ll find out about it soon enough.
