12 Reasons to Play FIFA Over PES This Year (in progress)

FIFA is the king of football games and there’s been a heck of lot of press this year about PES may be finally coming through and retaining it’s title as top football game from nearly 10 years ago now. However, FIFA will certainly dominate in sales and will certainly be the football game that everybody is still talking about this season. However, what reasons are there that FIFA is better than PES this year? Well, here are our 12 reasons!

1. The licenses available

FIFA will be a huge appeal for those people who love to just play with their team in the right shirt with the right badge and the right name. This year, FIFA’s two big leagues that it’s managed to capture over PES are the Premier League and the Bundesliga, two of the biggest leagues in the world.

2. Ultimate Team

Ultimate Team has become absolutely massive for the FIFA franchise over the past few years and has shot it from favourite football game into a huge game to watch on YouTube and Twitch as people open countless packs to get the best players from around their world into their team.

3. More recognisable brand

The FIFA brand is just far more recognisable for a lot of the younger generation who are playing the game. The last true great PES that was arguably better than FIFA was PES 2006 and since then there’s been little reason to mention the brand other than as that game that isn’t quite as good as FIFA.

4. No-touch dribbling

One of the biggest and best features within FIFA 16 this year is the addition of “no-touch dribbling”. The idea is that you can perform feints and dummies without touching the ball in an attempt to either shift your player’s weight or confuse the opposition player.

5. Updated Transfers

Something that has quite a few fans of the PES franchise miffed is the fact that they don’t have the updated Transfer teams yet. Whether PES plan to actually update the teams soon or whether this is the squad lists we are going to be stuck with throughout the whole year. FIFA however, has all the new squads and will have an update in January for them too.

6. FIFA 16 Has Women’s Football

One of the other big announcements this year was the brilliant addition of Women’s football into the game. Not only does this bring more diversity and awareness to the women’s sport but it actually also brings a really nice change of pace and play to the game as there are all-new animations and physics for the women’s game.

7. Shooting animations look more realistic

Despite PES arguably having better animations, physics and graphics, the shooting still looks a little funky and unrealistic. However, the balls played and goals scored in FIFA look far realistic due to more realistic animations.

8. Far better menus and presentation

FIFA has always and will likely always have better menus than PES. This is due to FIFA using larger boxes, more clear text and all sorts. PES has received a huge upgrade this year, but it still doesn’t come anywhere near to the colour palette or layout that FIFA is using.

9. Better licensed music

The music within FIFA has become quite synonymous with the series for actually being a huge base for bands to get their voice out. Quite a few songs that have appeared within the franchise have then gone on to become quite popular within the mainstream charts thanks to the appeal and stage that FIFA gives them.

10. All your mates are playing it

Let’s not lie, all your mates are playing FIFA and not PES. One of the biggest draws to any Sports game is definitely what your friends are playing and despite PES likely to get more sales this year, there’s no doubt FIFA will be a game that everybody will have heard of and will be playing as well.

11. Backing from real players

Something that EA and the FIFA franchise have worked on over the past few years is getting the biggest names in football to appear on the covers and adverts. Messi, Bale, Rooney, Henderson and many more have graced the face of FIFA and constant celebrity footballer tournaments are held to show this off.

12. You’ll find far more content online

One thing that has made FIFA so huge over the past few years is the simply huge amount of videos you can find about the game on YouTube and Twitch. Whether this is Ultimate Team, Career Mode or tips and tricks, you’ll find FAR more content on FIFA than you will on PES.
