Many novels that are set in the future predict mass change in technology, medicine and society. Below is a list of books from the past that predicted many things we now see as normal.
In Orwell’s most famous novel, the all knowing Big Brother is always watching you, in a similar way to the mass surveillance that takes place in the real world. When you look at the NSA scandal that took place not long ago, which included their involvement in illegal wiretapping and data-mining, alongside a whole host of other accusations, it’s not too much of a stretch to say Orwell saw what was coming.
