James Bond is an absolutely huge role and one that has quite a specific list of needs if you’re going to cover the historic man in the suit. James Bond has a long history of being suave, good-looking, sweet-talking, well built and always looks great in action sequences. Therefore, there have been quite a few Brits who have been considered for the role after Daniel Craig finally hangs up his Aston Martin boots. The bookies have come up with a list of rumoured men to take the role and we’ve added in a few who we think would be great as the new James Bond.
Idris Elba
Idris Elba is currently favourite to take over as the next James Bond. We saw in Luthor that Elba looks great in suits and can certainly do the action scenes. Elba is also already built for the role and wouldn’t need to work much in the gym to compete with Daniel Craig’s previous performances. Along with this, there’s no doubting that Idris Elba has the charm and the suave to make it as the next Bond. Will Elba be the first black James Bond? We hope so!
Tom Hardy
Tom Hardy is another huge contender for the role of James Bond when Daniel Craig finally retires from the franchise. Tom Hardy is huge in Hollywood right now having played as Bane and Mad Max and starred in huge films such as Warrior, Legend and more. He would definitely be a more rugged James Bond than we’ve seen before but he definitely showed in Legend he can be sophisticated and suave.
Benedict Cumberbatch
Despite not seriously being considered, after seeing Benedict Cumberbatch play roles such as Sherlock and Khan in Star Trek, we see he can play a seriously clever and intelligent character who many would admire around him. However, Cumberbatch doesn’t exactly have the sex-appeal that James Bond needs and we haven’t really seen any action of him in action scenes either making this one less likely than the previous two.
Damian Lewis
After an incredible run in Homeland, Damian Lewis is a character who we’ve seen in action scenes, we’ve seen seduce women and we’ve seen be very British! There’s no doubting that he has the right character and acting skills but could we possibly have a ginger as James Bond? Just kidding! We think he’d be awesome after Daniel Craig finishes.
Henry Cavill
Having played Superman and more recently in The Man From U.N.C.L.E, Henry Cavill has showed us he can be incredibly good in action scenes. The Man From U.N.C.L.E. showed off Cavill in his closest possible role to his potential James Bond role. Wearing many suits, being a spy in general and performing in plenty of action scenes he’s definitely a man who could be considered for the role after his
Michael Fassbender
Michael Fassbender has been in some fairly big films recently such as MacBeth, X-Men and Steve Jobes. He’s certainly an actor who can play serious roles and as we’ve seen from his red carpet appearances he can certainly suit up nicely too. He’s definitely an actor who offers a great option to replace Daniel Craig and is one of the most likely to do so.
Richard Armitage
Richard Armitage has that dark broody look and has a great, deep British voice that would suit the role perfectly. Whether he’d play the great seduction parts well we don’t know but we’ve seen some great acting from him in such films as The Hobbit trilogy as Thorin and Robin Hood as Guy of Gisborne. However, we’re not sure once again how great he’d be at being suave and seductive, but that’s a role he’s not yet had to play.
