These magical snaps may look like screen shots from a Wes Anderson film, but they’re actually the wedding photos of creative couple Liisa and Henno Luts from Tallinn, Estonia.
Wanting something more meaningful than the traditional posed wedding photography preferred by most bride-to-bes, Liisa decided it would be more appropriate to photograph the day herself, from her unique perspective.
Liisa said: “I just felt that I want something different, not those posed beauty shots and not that post-processed glamorous photo gallery. With all respect to the wedding photographers, I just wanted something more ‘us’…And what could be more real than me taking the photos myself.”
Using a digital camera, Liisa stared snapped from the moment she woke up, to when she fell asleep in her new husbands arms at the end of the day. As well as ditching the pricey wedding photographer, the pair also didn’t bother with the expensive gown or wedding cake, instead choosing a low-key gathering with friends and family that is perfectly reflected in the photos.
What makes this series so touching is that Liisa has captured all the little details that aren’t included in more conventional wedding photography, such as tender, unstaged moments with loved ones and the couple holding hands.
In all fairness, Liisa and Henno both work as professional photographers, with their own photography and videography company called Mellow. But this is still a clever idea that amateurs can also attempt to bring a personal touch to special occasions.
What could be a more beautiful or intimate way to remember your big day?
Take a look at Liisa and Henno’s wedding below!
Liisa started the day by photographing a sleeping Henno in bed, before taking a selfie of herself preparing for her daily run.
Next, she cooked up a hearty breakfast in the couple’s dimly-lit kitchen and served it to Henno.
Looks yum!
After a shower it was time for Lisa’s hair and make up.
Followed by a pre-wedding shot with her husband to be.
Lisa chose to get married in heels, while Henno opted for a pair of Nike trainers.
The pair went on to wed in a simply decorated registry office.
Where Liisa photographed the signing of the marriage documents.
They then made their way to the reception by car.
Liisa even managed to capture the throwing of the bouquet from her perspective!
Before the duo went off to enjoy the wedding party with their family and friends.
Before falling asleep in each others arms.
Congratulations guys!
