Over a third of all websites are porn websites. It’s also estimated that a staggering 80% of all images on the internet are of naked women.
2. Total users
It’s estimated that nearly 30% of the world population use the internet at least weekly. The world population is just over 7 billion and there are over 2 billion people who use regularly go online at least once a week. In total there are over 3 billion internet users around the world.
3. Gadgets connected
It’s estimated that for every person in the world, there are two devices, such as smartphones and laptops, that are connected to the internet. With the world population currently at 7 billion, this means there are over 14 billion individual devices that are online.
4. Emails aplenty
Over 250 billion emails are sent every day. Of these emails, more than 200 billion are spam.
5. Number of websites
There are well over 1 billion active websites currently online. The billionth website was launched in September 2014. Since then the number of websites dipped below a billion, but now the number of websites has past a billion once again and just keeps growing.
6. Number of webpages
If we’re talking about webpages, the number gets a lot bigger. There are estimated to be between 47 billion and 49 billion individual webpages online.
7. Addiction camps
Even though China restricts what its citizens can access, famously blocking access to social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter, many Chinese people become severely addicted to the internet. Addiction camps exist to treat people suffering from internet addiction.
8. A popularity race
It took the telephone 75 years to gain 50 million users; the internet had 50 million users only four years after its launch.
9. On the go
Just over half of all internet users go online using their phones or other types of handheld devices. This number is expected to steadily rise over the next few years, simply because love using their smart phones so much.
