Mark Zuckerberg is the image of any great success story, he worked hard and achieved greatness as a result. If you didn’t know already (shame on you) we all have Mark Zuckerberg to thanks for the modern day necessity, Facebook. Whether you love it or hate, chances are you’re on it so a lot of us could call him quite the genius!
With the coming of the new year, a lot of famous and influential people like to express their aims and goals of the coming 12 months and perhaps reflect on the past 12, with Mark being one of those! He wrote that his plans for the forthcoming year were to create and build “simple AI to run my home and help me with my work.” He shows strong character and determination to keep going even though he could quite comfortably out his feet up now after making his millions from Facebook, making him a very admirable guy.
Obviously, like any famous person, this post received millions of comments and likes but one particular comment stood out to Mark and has since caused quite the stir. A Grandmother called Darlene Hackemer Loretto left a comment under Marks facebook post reading, ‘ I keep telling my grand daughters to date the school nerd, he may turn out to be Mark Zuckerburg. Thank for FB I’ve reconnected with family and many old school classmates’.
And Mark’s response was so classic! It wasn’t at all rude or aggressive, it was just very to the point and spun what could have been a sexist comment on it’s head in an encouraging way. This comment was enjoyed by an extra 18,732 likers who obviously had the same idea! This comment was super refreshing to see, as a significant male figure supported feminism and equality between gender, through a simple and very modern response.
After the amount of attention this comment received, Darlene made her own status saying “I’ve done everything in my life MYSELF, my children’s dad died at a very young age and I did it all,” she wrote. “Starting 2 businesses. I said it once to them in jest and NEVER did I think anyone would even see this, let alone get the attention it has gotten.”. She was quite clearly embarrassed about her off the cuff remark and now might think before making comments as you never know how much attention they might get!
