With summer on the horizon, it is officially the season where everyone panics as they know they are not ‘summer body ready’! So now the weather is getting warmer, for most it is time for that health kick! However, when we think diet most of us think, starvation mode and flavourless, boring meals! Here we have some super tips to make those healthy changes without even noticing and it feeling like a chore!
Swap White To Brown
Make this your meal mantra, brown foods such as sugar, bread, pasta and rice are often a lot better for you and less processed than the same variants in white! By swapping a spoon full of white sugar in your latte for brown and having a brown pitta at lunch, you’re already on your way!
Plan Your Meals
At the start of each week plan what your three meals a day are going to be and only buy ingredients for those meals (yes, that means avoiding the chocolate aisle!). This will help you from straying and ordering a takeaway or reaching for that midnight snack.
Always have a bottle of water with you and if you feel you want a snack, have a glass of water before tucking in. Often we confuse dehydration with hunger, so this will help you tell if you need a drink instead of a bag of crisps.
Don’t Buy Or Hide Treats
Empty the biscuit tin, hide the chocolate box and stay away from that cake. The idea is, if it is not in the house then you will be avoiding the temptation plus you can’t impulsively eat it either!
Eat Little And Often
The key to sticking to a healthy diet is to eat little and often. People often associate diets with starvation and mouse size portions when actually the key is to have small meals regularly or have some great healthy snacks to munch on such as fruits, protein bars or dips and veg.
Add Some Greens
If you’re not sure what to eat for your main meal, then choose a meat, fish or vegetarian choice and add greens! Greens are basically the best and now the weather is getting warmer, salads are back on the menu!
