People are always trying hard to push the boundaries when it comes to achieving the latest beauty trick or starting a new trend that everyone will be keen to try. Lately, with the eat clean phase, people have loved to try out homemade and DIY face kits, face masks and natural beauty remedies. This usually involves ingredients like eggs, bananas, honey etc to make skin smooth or maybe reduce blemishes with often medium results that make it worth raiding the kitchen cupboards. However, there is a new ingredient on the block and we’re not sure we want it to be sticking around for long or there will be some very strong smelling faces and that ingredient is onion!
Onion is notoriously enemies with our faces, often bringing us to tears with that first chop and burning our eyes, so it might be a shock to here the newest beauty fad actually involves using an onion just above the eye on the brows. The craze is to use a chopped in half onion and rub it onto your eyebrows, with the high risk your eyes will go crazy and sting like mad. So why risk so much pain in the name of ‘beauty’, why would you want onion smelling brows? Well, the onion is actually supposed to increase hair growth and health, so after a few applications of the smelly layered vegetable, your brows are, in theory, supposed to be growing like crazy so that you can shape them to look on fleek!
However, before you run to the kitchen to test it out yourself, there is no scientific evidence to back up the stinging process and do the negatives of burning eyes out weight the positives of having the best brows around? This has been claimed to work for some people, but we’re not sure if it is all really worth it. Plus the smell of onion is super strong and resilient to wash off, so if you do try it you might not want to get too close to someone else or they might mistake it for super bad breathe… ew!
