A good psychological thriller allows us to undergo an intense range of emotional states that we may otherwise never experience. It puts us into the mind of the character and gives us an alternative view of reality. It may explore themes of fanaticism, phobias, isolation and paranoia and insanity. Good examples would be The Wicker Man, Buried, The Babadook, Black Swan and Jacob’s Ladder.
