Currently making people’s stomachs churn on Facebook is this gross story about what actually happens when you buy food from McDonalds and … don’t eat it!
Social network fanatics and health conscious people are busy sharing a post that has gone viral over the last few days. Here’s the story behind it!
Jennifer Lovdhal is a health worker from Alaska and way back in 2010 she went out to get a Happy Meal from McDonalds. She doesn’t normally eat food from the chain, and purchased the meal to experiment with it.
She brought the food back to her office and left it in its cardboard container. Behold:
You can clearly see the year, date and time the meal was purchased.
In the box were 4 chicken nuggets and some fries – and nothing else.
Now fast forward on 6 years. Jennifer opened up the box to see what had happened to the Happy Meal:
The food has not changed at all. Jennifer commented: “It has not rotted, moulded, or decomposed at all!!! It smells only of cardboard. We did this experiment to show our patients how unhealthy this “food” is. Especially for our growing children!!”
The only slight change to the chicken is that is has apparently become paler in colour. Otherwise everything else is all the same.
She added: “There are so many chemicals in this food! Choose real food! Apples, bananas, carrots, celery….those are real fast food.”
It’s very true indeed.
It’s not the first time this kind of experiment has been tried out. Although the results from this one were slightly different:
Whilst the burgers did get attacked by mould – after 2 whole months, the fries remained the same. It’s truly gross and might make you think twice before you next visit a fast food outlet for a burger and some fries.
