It will interest you to know that, like Coke, Brandy was never intended as a beverage. Unlike Coke, it was actually formed by complete accident! Before the 15th century, wine was distilled as a way to preserve it and to make transportation easier. It was then re-distilled by adding back the water before it was drank. It was only when people began to try the distilled wine, they realized that it tasted rather good – and thus, Brandy was born.
