Today we know about Hemsworths and Jonas brothers but do you know before them there were Lawrence brothers who ruled hearts for a long time. The Lawrence trio Joey, Matt and Andy remained a household name through out 90s. Joey starred in Blossom, Matt tasted success with Boy Meets World while Andy the youngest one co-starred with other brothers in Brotherly Love. Since they became very popular 90s star kids during their childhood they managed to avoid star kid issues successfully back then that today’s kid actors face.
Nowadays we don’t see them much on screen but don’t worry they are coming back soon.
Is Their Last Name Really “Lawrence?”
Lawrence brothers were born to the couple Donna and Joseph Mignogna. Lawrence was not their family name at all but the family chose it as it was an ode’s to their father’s middle name. Thus they become the Lawrences from the Mignognas.
It is not a rule that one cannot pick the new name or a stage name. The other clan of brothers who dropped their family name are the Estevez, Charlie and Martin Sheen while the third one Emilio Stuck with the original family name.
Lawrence Brothers Grew Up In Philadelphia
They still consider the good old city the City of Brotherhood as their eternal abode. They have lived the American dream with finest acting careers but they spend weekends there.
Joey is Eagles fan since childhood and is very passionate about his chosen team. He expressed his joy while saying that in an interview “I’m either with my brothers, because the three of us are huge fans, watching the game or I’m by myself at night, in my media room with my cordless headphones on watching my 80-inch flat-screen TV and it’s awesome to see my Birds play.”

Joey’s Big Break Came Alongside Rosie O’Donnell
Since we have already told you about Joey’s break with Gimme A Break! and Mathew the younger Lawrence joined the elder on the same show. It was a mere coincidence that they played brothers in the series as well. Mathew was shown as youngest to Joey just like real life.
It is not quite surprising that art impersonates real life sometimes after all tons of movies are always based on real lives. While they both were performing on the same show, it unlocked the unexpected door and the trend started where siblings start working together. However, it was the youngest of the three Lawrence who stepped far in the spotlight and all thanks to T.J. Detweiler.
