If you’re the type to keep up with what the royals are up to, you’ll know well that Prince Harry is supposedly going out with Meghan Markle. If things get serious, she could become the new Kate Middleton, even though Harry isn’t as high up in the line of succession as his brother. So who exactly is Meghan Markle, the woman who’s caught the eye of Prince Harry?
Familiar face
You might recognise Meghan if you’ve seen Suits, as she’s been playing the role of Rachel Zane, one of the show’s main characters, across its seven series. She’s also had a brief stint in Fringe, appearing in two episodes as Amy Jessup, and has had small roles in numerous other TV shows and films over the years. One of her most interesting jobs has been working as a ‘briefcase girl’ on the American version of Deal or No Deal, though she only appeared in four episodes.
More about Meghan
Meghan was born in 1981 in Los Angeles and currently lives in Toronto, where Suits is filmed. She was privately educated and went to Northwestern University near Chicago, from which she graduated with a degree in theatre and international studies. Before breaking through as an actress, she worked as a freelance calligrapher to help support herself. Alongside her acting work, she’s taken the time to get involved with numerous charity projects. She’s been involved with a UN gender equality campaign, is a global ambassador for World Vision Canada and has worked in India to suppress the stigmatisation of periods.
Love life
Before getting together with Prince Harry, Meghan was married to actor and producer Trevor Engelson from 2011 to 2013 when the two divorced; they had been going out since 2004 before deciding to marry. After getting divorced, she went out with Michael del Zotto, a Canadian ice hockey player, though eventually ended up with none other than Prince Harry, to whom, according to various tabloids, she is engaged.
