Fat Shaming Cards – New Trend Making Life of Overweight People A Lot More Difficult

Body shaming is nothing new, as there always seems to be a ‘fashionable’ way to look, whether that means having the ‘perfect hourglass curves’ or ‘being toned and slim’ and everything else on either end of the spectrum! However, most people would be in agreement that no matter what we all look like, the size we all are and the image we portray, there is no need to comment or shame others on their appearance as long as they are happy!

However, there are some people that think the complete opposite to keeping their mouths shut and opinions to themselves, they clearly haven’t heard the phrase ‘if you haven’t got anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all!’.

These people have formed a group and named themselves the ‘Overweight Haters Ltd’, which of the first mark is a horrible name which is totally unneeded and ignorant. Yet as with their name, they often seem to over step the mark in an offensive and cruel manner, all surrounding body image and fat shaming. The organization prides itself in ‘hating and resenting fat people’.

The ‘Overweight Haters Ltd’ took part in a flyering exercise in London tube stations, where in which they handed out cards and notes to people they deemed over weight based on physical appearance. The cards they handed out contained messages such as, “It’s really not glandular, it’s your gluttony…” and “We object to the enormous amount of food resources you consume while half the world starves. We disapprove of your wasting NHS money to treat your selfish greed. And we do not understand why you fail to grasp that by eating less you will be better off, slimmer, happy and find a partner who is not a perverted chubby-lover, or even find a partner at all.”

The recipients to these hateful and disgusting messages took to twitter in an outrage of upset and hurt, with one person even posting an image of the note she was handed.

These notes are a sad and nasty way to send out a message, which honestly is not needed. The concerns for others body weight is only of the person who’s body it is, not of someone they have never met, don’t know their life story, medical history nor care but just want to hurt them.
