Jake Gyllenhaal is one of the world’s most famous actors having starred in some incredibly well-received films including Donnie Darko, Nightcrawler, Zodiac and Source Code. These films all showed off Jake’s incredible acting abilities and his wide range of diverse skills.
However, just like all the biggest actors in the world, Jake hasn’t always just been gifted his roles and has, on quite a few occasions actually failed his auditions that his agents really thought he was going to get.
On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, he goes on to speak about how he failed to get the part, despite auditioning for films like Lord Of The Rings and Dude Where’s My Car?
Jake Gyllenhaal is just casually chatting to Jimmy about how he auditioned for Frodo in Lord of The Rings, a film series that would go on to be one of the greatest trilogies in the history of cinema. Yet, during the auditions, there were many parts of the scene that didn’t have direct lines and Jake apparently had to crawl around looking for a ring with little direction as to the setting or the screen. Unfortunately, this left Peter Jackson with his head in his hands and Jake didn’t get the part.
He also mentioned that he auditioned for a role in Dude Where’s My Car? and also sucked during that audition too. He mentions that he tried to put on a funny lisp but in a really serious demeanour, hoping to add comical value to the character. However, when he read out his lines, the director asked him if he could reread them without the funny lisp and so Jake obviously didn’t get the part as he hadn’t prepared to read the lines without a lisp.
It just goes to show that, despite being one of the biggest actors in the world, Jake Gyllenhaal couldn’t get even get the acting part that then went to Ashton Kutcher!
