Car movies offer some of the best action and best scenes for all girls and guys interested in engines, torque, mph, 0-60s and more. Some movies are born and bread car movies and others have other intentions but end up giving us a fine display of automobile enginerring anyway. We decided to go out and have a look at some of the best car movies of all time for all petrol heads or even just people looking for a good action film.
Need for Speed (2014)
The Need for Speed movie shocked a few people when it came out as 1. it wasn’t expcted and 2. it wasn’t actually that bad for a video game adaptation. There were no direct video game links other than that it was about a guy driving fast cars and often escaping from police. The film features some of the fastest, most beautiful modern cars in the world.
Fast and Furious 7 (2015)
Fast and Furious is the car series that just doesn’t seem to want to go away. Even with Paul Walker’s death, there appears to be another movie being made. However, it doesn’t stop people going to see them as they truly are some of the best action films you can watch these days and obviously it’s like car porn for any petrol head when watching that film.
Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981)
Mad Max was one of the original car films that talked seriously about all sorts of different aspects of the car. Despite obviously being based in a post-apolcayptic world where everything is just down-right weird, the cars still shine through and the idea of building them is clear for everyone to see.
RUSH is a film about the rival story of Niki Lauda and James Hunt. It depicts a beautiful story as the two go through a jorueny of truly appreciating one another for pushing one another to their limits in racing. The speed and cars are in all their glory in this flick too, making you truly feel like you’re being the wheel of an F1 car in the 70s.
Gone in 60 Seconds (2000)
If you’re interested in quanitity of cars fit into a single film then Gone in Sixty Seconds is certainly the film for you. It features over 50 cars that the team have to steal and they use even more to try and accomplish this. Featuring some big names such as Angelina Jolie and Nicolas Cage, this is a great action film featuring some great motors.
The Fast and The Furious (2001)
The film that started off the whole series and launched Paul Walker and Vin Diesel’s careers was the original The Fast and Furious film. It’s a film that centers around a cop trying to infultrate an illegal street racing gang and finding himself growing fond of the gang and their ideals. Oh and they fdrive rather fast and furiously too!
Not technically a car film but it does feature quite a few different vehicles which you see being driven around the states of America. The Transformers themselves obviously all transform from some sort of vehicles, mainly cars. The film isn’t centered hugely around cars but does feature some appreciation towards some of the beautiful motors featured.
Fast Five (2011)
The final ‘Fast’ film on our list is Fast Five which is the film in the series that took it from being about street cars and illegal dealings to working for higher up government and involving some more hypercar/modern cars. Obviously appealing to a wider audience and featuring far more action, there’s lots for a lot of people to see in this film. Plus, it has Dwayne Johnson in it which is always a bonus.
How could we talk about films with beautiful cars and car action in them without mentioning a James Bond film? Well, every James Bond film features the latest and greatest of beauty in motor cars, usually Aston Martin. Skyfall was a film that featured Jaguar XFRs, Audi A5s and even Daniel Craig driving the Aston Martin DB5, the epitome of beauty?
The Transporter (2002)
In a film that itself is called Transporter suggests that there’s certainly going to be some cars and then when you add in Jason Statham, there’s likely to be action too. Transporter is exactly that when Frank finds himself being asked to “Transport” packages from unknown clients and one day receives a package that’s still moving!
