Every Netflix subscriber has bingewatched Squid Game, a Korean show aired on Netflix in September. As soon as it was aired, it soon became the most popular non-English show all over the world and until now it has become the most popular show on Netflix surpassing all others. Not just that on TikTok the hashtag #squidgame garnered more than 27.25 billion views.
The plot of Squid Game was disturbing for the audiences as it kicked in. We see 465 contestants who are deep into debts are invited to partake in apparently six children’s games running for six days to win the bumper prize of $38 million. However, the show becomes nightmarish when the losers lose their lives too and put to gory deaths.
The show became an instant hit and was talked about on Reddit, twitter, Facebook, TikTok and more importantly was trending on Google. Not just that, during the Halloween weekend the term ‘Squid Game Baby Costumes’ was also trending on Google. Some of the schools in NYC had to ban costumes inspired by the show. Its popularity is immeasurable from Europe, America, Canada to Australia, Squid Game inspired Halloween costumes were selling faster than any other item.
