Burgers can come in a huge amount of varieties, shapes and sizes but most people love to tuck into a beefy meat patty sandwiched with fresh bread and filled with their favourite toppings. As we’re all to aware, this can easily rack the calories up, so here are some basic alternatives to switch your burger up so it is still enjoyable but a lot healthier. Try leaner meat such as chicken and turkey, avoid mayo and ketchup by using fresh tomatoes, low fat yoghurt, smooth avocado or even home made salsa, instead of a thick white bread bun use only one half or try a brown seeded bun and try adding some salad and red onion – yum!
