If you’ve never played Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft then don’t. It’s exceptionally addictive, the players will annoy you senseless and you’ll become obsessed with collecting as many cards as possible. Why do we play it? Well despite its downfalls, Hearthstone is still rather amazing.
But before you play, you should probably know about all the blood-boiling players you will face as you try to climb the ranks. Here are 15 Hearthstone players that drive you mad:
1. Mech-Mage
By far the most common type of player you will find on Hearthstone is a rush mech Mage deck. The combination of Mech Warpers and cheap mech cards mean that this nasty Mage can have you defeated as quick as turn 5. Well before you have any chance of drawing a board clear.
2. Control Priest
Control Priests are pretty simple – they are massive, annoying thieves. Using a combination of card stealing cards, minion stealing cards and even minion stealing minions you’ll find yourself facing your best cards. Especially watch out for turn 10 when the horrific Mind Control card comes into play. Many a legendary card has been nicked with Mind Control.
3. Face Hunter
Generally in Hearthstone everyone tries to kill each other’s minions before going face. Not only is that supposed to be tactically better, it’s also just polite. Which is why a face Hunter is SO ANNOYING. They manage to chuck out a load of minions really fast – most of which have charge – so you’re dead before you can say Flamestrike. And they always have Kill Command. Always.
4. Handlock
A Handlock is a Warlock who draws lots of cards but doesn’t play them. They also want to take lots of damage to their health. Why you wonder? Well both card hoarding and low health make it easy for a Warlock to chuck out Molten Giants and Mountain Giants like sweets. Add in a Defender of Argus and you’re pretty much dead.
5. Patron Warrior
Recently a new card came out, a seemingly harmless 3/3 Grim Patron. This card is not harmless. It’s horrible. The problem being that unless you kill this card outright it will spawn a new version itself. Matched with cards like Whirlwind and you’ll find yourself in serious trouble.
6. Mill Druid
Mill Druids work by making you overdraw. And in Hearthstone when you overdraw your cards get burned. Which means you can lose some of your best cards and become fatigued leaving yourself at the mercy of that nasty Druid.
7. Ice Mage
Ice Mages are particularly annoying as they can kill you in one turn. Using a combination of Frost Bolts, Ice Lances and that ever-popular Fireball you’ll lose a lot of health in just a few seconds. Add that to the fact cards like Blizzard will prevent you from attacking and you’ll be left raging.
8. Pyroblast Mage
Pyroblast is an awful card that causes 10 damage to the enemy hero. And when you consider that you only have 30 health to begin with you can see how annoying that can be. This Mage will pepper away at your health until they can Pyroblast you into oblivion.
9. Demonlock
Warlocks are annoying in general – they can draw cards when you can’t. However, a Warlock with a demon-heavy hand is particularly annoying. Implosion will destroy your minions, Doomguard will charge you to death and then there’s Mal’Ganis. Mal’Ganis will make your hero immune and add 2/2 to the rest of that mean Warlock’s other demons. Grr.
10. Lord Jaraxxus
Keeping with the theme of annoying Warlocks you have Lord Jaraxxus. A Warlock card that replaces your hero with this new 15-health hero that comes with a weapon and a hero power that churns out /6 inferno demons. This card/hero is particularly annoying as you’ll think you’ve beaten a Warlock and then they chuck out Jaraxxus. You’re as good as dead.
11. Secret Mage
Secret Mages will give you the fear. As soon as that Mad Scientist card comes out you know you’re in trouble. The reason being? Mage secrets are particularly evil. They can vaporize your minion, give the enemy copies of dead minions and give the Mage hero immunity so you can’t kill them till your next turn.
12. Mech Shaman
Not as common as the Mech Mage, but still uber annoying, is the Mech Shaman. The same idea, this Shaman will chuck mech after mech at you, but this time you’ll also have to deal with some rather nasty weapons and windfury.
13. Combo Druid
Combo Druids aren’t interested in playing lots of fancy minions. In fact, they only have one play – Force of Nature matched with Savage Roar. Force of Nature gives you 3 evil trees with charge while Savage Roar gives all your minions and your hero +2 attack. If you survive this combo then you are very, very lucky.
14. Combo Rogues
Unlike the Druid above, Rogues use lots of different combos to annoy you senseless. They’ll prevent you from keeping minions on the board, whittle your health down with weapons and just generally drive you nuts.
15. Paladins
Just kidding. Paladins are full of justice and don’t annoy anyone. They’re basically the goody two-shoes of Hearthstone.
