All the Exciting News We Learned From The Disney D23 Expo

There was a lot of exciting D23 news for Disney fans to get excited about after the Expo last week. Now, all D23 news is exciting as it’s Disney – what isn’t exciting about Disney?! But we have compiled all the D23 news you need to know!

From Star Wars to Toy Story, it’s time to get excited:

1. Orlando Bloom will definitely be in Pirates of the Caribbean 5

We missed the lovely Will Turner in the last Pirates of the Caribbean, but we’re very happy to hear that the Captain of the Flying Dutchman will appear in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Here’s the synopsis for the film:

“Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar, escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. 2. There was a trailer for Captain America: Civil War

The lucky, lucky audience at D23 not only got to see Captain America himself, Chris Evans, but they also got to see the first ever trailer for Captain America: Civil War. A trailer the general public is not due to see until November.

We got the jist of what happens though including bad Tony Stark wanting to punch our lovely Captain America.

3. There’s going to be a Star Wars land

If any D23 news was going to make geeks happy it was the confirmation that Disney are building a Star Wars land. The plans look amazing, and we’re very excited to see what news will be released as the building starts.

4. There’s also going to be Toy Story land

Great D23 news for fans of Toy Story, Disney are also going to build a Toy Story land based on Andy’s back garden. Visitors will be shrunk to toy size meaning you’ll get to experience the back yard from Woody and the gang’s perspective. There will also be a roller coaster made from Andy’s toy bricks!

5. Toy Story 4 will be a romantic comedy

The fourth installment of Toy Story will centre around the romantic story of Woody and Bo. It’s rumoured to be a very emotional story – we can hardly wait!

6. Disney are doing a Day of the Dead film

Disney confirmed that their upcoming film Coco will be based on the Day of the Dead festival. The story will follow Miguel, a boy who discovers he can talk to his long-dead family members.

7. We got details about the Finding Dory film

It was the D23 news everyone wanted to know – what will Finding Dory be about? Well it was revealed that the story will follow Dory trying to find her family after she recalls they might be in California in her sleep.

8. We found out a little bit about Gigantic

Gigantic is going to be a retelling of the Jack and the Beanstalk story, only this time the giant is a girl of 11. Sounds pretty intriguing! Especially when the writers behind the music in Frozen are on board.

More D23 news for Star Wars fans – the spin-off Rogue One looks to follow a group of rebels who try to steal the plans for the Death Star. It will star Felicity Jones who also starred in the Theory of Everything.

11. Doctor Strange looks set to be amazing

Like Captain America: Civil War, the audience at D23 got a glimpse of a trailer made from concept art for Doctor Strange. Although filming yet to start, we can already see that the film looks to be staying very true to the comics. Including the red cape!
