McDonalds Just Released Chocolate Covered Fries – Tasty Or Bad Taste?

It is fair to say McDonalds know how to do that classics with the infamous Big Mac’s and McFlurry’s, but have they created a new iconic dish to add to their famous menu that we all love to treat ourselves with! They have pushed the boat out very far this time with their new dish concept that has been released first in Japan… chocolate covered fries.

There are a lot of us that have admitted to being guilty of dipping our McDonalds chips in our milkshakes and McFlurrys which tastes amazing, but when it is an actual option to mix sweet with savoury, how is this going to go down? Well McDonalds have released this new and exciting dish as a regular portion of classic fries in a medium with a sachet of two sauces, white (very sweet) chocolate and classic milk chocolate for people to dip, cover and enjoy how they like! As the chips are hot out of the fryer, the chocolate sauce melts on top of them and creates a goey chocolate, salty, crispy dish that might just sound amazing!

However, this new creation has not gone down all too well with the McDonalds diners, maybe this is too crazy to top everyones favourite fries with chocolate sauce! We all know salt mixes amazingly with sweet, take salted caramel for example, but customers have explained the strong McDonald fries smell mixed with the almost artificially smelling chocolate dips is off putting before taking a sticky bite! Once more, the price is pretty cheeky, for your normal medium fries you’d be looking at spending 270 yen which works out to be $2.29 and for the chocolate fries it is 330 yen which works out to be roughly $2.79… making the addition of a pouch of chocolate sauce an extra 60 yen! For the chocolate lovers and fans of this dish, there have been complaints that there is not actually enough sauce to generously cover those crispy fries!

These might have to be a love/hate dish, but whether they’re here to stick around and visit other countries is still unknown! Would you try these weird fries or stick to classic tomato sauce and mayo?
