It’s no surprise to see that a Call of Duty title is on this list. Black Ops 3 brought people back to World War 2 for the last time in a Call of Duty game and is widely regarded as one of the best modern Call of Duty games. Along with the introduction of Zombies which has since been in nearly all the modern Call of Duty games, this was a true great.
9. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 – 26.5 Million Copies Sold
The original Modern Warfare was the Call of Duty game that made Call of Duty games as huge as they are today. It’s no surprise then that the final Modern Warfare game before Advanced Warfare came out was a massive hit and remains the best-selling Call of Duty game to date.
8. Grand Theft Auto: Sand Andreas – 27.5 Million Copies Sold
Another game we’re not surprised to see on this list is Grand Theft Auto: Sand Andreas. Long being hailed as one of the best GTAs ever and redefining open-world gaming with many different hobbies to casually undertake in, it’s a classic and a game that always be the first GTA that broke the boundaries.
7. Diablo 3 – 30 Million Copies Sold
Blizzard are a behemoth of a company and surely World of Warcraft would have been on this list if it was sold as single units. However, it is sold as a Subscription, however. Diablo 3 is sold as a single unit and therefore, makes this list. Diablo 3 is actually the highest selling PC-only game (these sales figures don’t include the console versions) in history.
6. Wii Sports – 32 Million Copies Sold
The Wii was a revelation when it came out. It really was the first console for all ages and Wii Sports was one of the defining games of that console. It allowed you to play Wii Tennis, Wii Golf and Wii Boxing, all games we are sure people remember fondly from the late noughties.
5. Mario Kart – Over 40 Million Copies Sold
The Mario games are absolutely huge and Mario Kart is an absolute fan favourite bringing families together all across the world. Playing in silly ‘karts’ with little power-ups and different characters really brought the competitive side out in everyone.
4. Super Mario Brothers – 40.24 Million Copies Sold
The highest-selling Mario game though however is Super Mario brothers, the original of course. This game has gone on to sell over 40 million copies and looks to soon break the 41 million barrier with people still buying the classic.

Grand Theft Auto V was an absolute phenomenon. For a while, GTA has caused a massive hysteria in the media as the game that makes kids violent. It real life though it’s the game that lets people drive cars, get haircuts, go to the gym, buy houses, buy cars, fly planes, kill people (don’t know if you knew about that one…) and so so much more. Add on to that that GTA V allows you to level up, earn money and buy things in your own servers and you have without a doubt one of the best games of all time.
2. Minecraft – 70 Million Copies Sold
I doubt when Notch and the team at Mojang began making Minecraft that they thought they were going to make the best-selling game of our generation. The block-based creation game has spawned some stunning MODs that have had some of the greatest minds in the world applauding the game. It’s also been a revelation for kids and still goes strong on YouTube today.
1. Tetris – Over 100 Million Copies Sold
Was it much surprise that Tetris is the best-selling game of all time? These sales figures are only for the modern Tetris too, we’re not talking about the original Tetris for the original Gameboy. Over 100,000,000 million have bought or downloaded and then played Tetris since it was released for mobile devices, computers, tablets and much more. What an achievement for arguably one of the most famous games in history.
