What Is Fortnite And Fortnite Shop?

The world of online gaming keeps on getting more popular, while the games people play over the internet keep on getting more advanced. Over the last few years especially, a number of multi-player games have taken the gaming world by storm and have generated huge sums of money in revenue. One of the biggest new releases is Fortnite, which attracted over 125 million players within a year of being released and has gone on to become something of a cultural phenomenon. Here’s a further look at the game and what the Fortnite Shop has to offer.

The premise of Fortnite is that 98% of the world’s population have been suddenly wiped out and you are among the surviving 2%. Earth is fast becoming a post-apocalyptic dystopia and hordes of zombie-like creatures have begun roaming around. A number of bases for survivors have been established and your goal, simply enough, is to keep on surviving. The game was developed by Epic Games and came out in 2017. There are currently three different modes that are all set in the same world and follow the same general sort of gameplay, but with their own distinct features:

  • Fortnite: Save the World, a cooperative shooter mode where you work with other players to collect resources for bases, save fellow survivors and fighting off the zombie-like creatures.
  • Fortnite Battle Royale, the most popular mode by far, this has you fight against up to a hundred other players to the death, with everyone competing to be the last player standing.
  • Fortnite Creative, a sandbox-style game where you can create a variety of structures on your own private island and share them with other players.

The three modes are available on a range of gaming platforms. Even though Fortnite has quite a large number of young children playing, it’s meant to be for those aged 12 and over only.

V-Bucks is Fortnite’s in-game currency. You can purchase this currency using real-world money and you can earn it by completing tasks and missions in the Save the World mode. Fortnite Shop is the game’s very own online store. Here you can purchase a range of items using V-Bucks, including cosmetic items to decorate your in-game avatar with, and weapons and tools to help you progress in the game. Items have expiry dates, so if there’s something in the Fortnite Shop you particularly want, be sure to purchase it before it becomes unavailable. The line-up of items for purchase changes daily.

Fortnite is free to play, though the game does bring in a huge amount of money form the purchasing of V-Bucks. In fact, it’s generated billions of pounds in revenue from V-Bucks purchases alone. Players around the world simply can’t get enough of purchasing skins and clothing for the avatar, as well as acquiring more items to help them survive in the post-apocalyptic world.
