You may not be familiar with Rian Johnson’s work, but you soon will be when Star Wars: Episode 8 hits cinemas at the end of next year. Known for writing and directing critically acclaimed films like Brick and Looper, Johnson is a very interesting and left-field choice for directing a movie this huge. Needless to say, we’re pretty excited to see what he’ll be doing with the Star Wars universe. Here are 5 things to expect from Star Wars Episode 8 director Rian Johnson.
5. Time Travel
This is more wishful thinking from Star Wars fans because of Johnson’s last feature, the epic time travel movie, Looper. The film saw Joseph Gordon Levitt play opposite Bruce Willis, the older version of himself who he is forced to try and hunt down and kill. With the possibility of time travel, we’d love to see some older characters return in all their glory, from Obi-Won Kenobi to Liam Neeson’s Qui-Gon-Jin. Maybe they could pull off some kind of Taken and Star Wars crossover where The First Order kidnap Qui-Gons great great granddaughter and he has to travel through time to save her. Or, maybe not…
