You may not be familiar with Rian Johnson’s work, but you soon will be when Star Wars: Episode 8 hits cinemas at the end of next year. Known for writing and directing critically acclaimed films like Brick and Looper, Johnson is a very interesting and left-field choice for directing a movie this huge. Needless to say, we’re pretty excited to see what he’ll be doing with the Star Wars universe. Here are 5 things to expect from Star Wars Episode 8 director Rian Johnson.
From the opening shot of 2012’s Looper, any cinematography fans knew that they were in for a treat. A beautiful scene is set of Joseph Gordon Levitt at dusk, the lone actor crouching down next to a field of high crops as the camera sweeps slowly around him to reveal a major part of the awesomely crazy plot. Star Wars: The Force Awakens was a very pretty film, especially with the beautiful island during the finale that’s located in Ireland. It’s been reported that Johnson has already shot on that same island, and we can’t wait for some more beautiful photographed real life locations like the deserts of Abu Dhabi for the planet of Jacoo.
