6 Reasons Less and Less People Are Going To The Cinema

It’s probably not shocking news to anyone that the film industry is struggling a little bit. With the dawn of social media, illegal pirating and an ever growing list of solid streaming services, younger audiences are abandoning the silver screen to watch films on their laptops, games consoles, tablets and any other crazy devices that you can plug into on the daily commute. Here’s 8 reasons less and less people are going to the cinema.

3. TV Shows Are On Another Level Right Now

Everybody is calling this period the golden age of television, and there’s very good reason for it. While the film industry is struggling, the television and streaming worlds are undeniably thriving. The quality is constantly getting higher and higher, and companies like Netflix and Amazon Prime are jumping head first into to the original programming game. To name just a few, they’re responsible for original and incredibly compelling shows like Narcos, Transparent, Making A Murderer, Mr Robot and Breaking Bad spin-off, Better Call Saul. With so much great episodeic drama on offer at the moment, people don’t seem to be as interested in a 90 minute or 2 hour narrative. They want more character development, not to mention the fact that everybody loves a good cliffhanger and a binge.
