Baby Showers Aren’t Just For Mum’s To Be, Introducing Dadchelor Parties

In the past baby showers have exclusively been for the women, soon to be mums in order to celebrate their new baby! However, dad’s are now getting on the action after having spent a lifetime not being involved in the baby shower tradition! Men everywhere are now starting a trend named Dadchelor parties, to celebrate all the soon to be daddy’s!

Since 2015, Dadchelor parties have risen by 146%, showing this is what all soon-to-be dad’s want! So what actually happens at these Dadchelor parties? We all know at the original baby showers, people would give gifts, have cake and play funny baby-related party games such as a race to change diapers and having sweetie dummies etc. Well, the very similar party games and food challenges happen for the Dadchelor parties but they are just a bit more… well, manly! The bottles might not be milk bottled themed but beer bottles and the party might be a bit more crazy after all, boys will be boys! This is not only a celebration of the baby coming but also a final ‘hurrah’ as once the baby comes things get serious! So in the same way, men have Stag nights before a wedding, this is kind of like a good bye to free time party too because once the baby comes there will be a lot of late night feeds and sicky stains!

According to a specialist, “Pregnancy is a very detached process for a husband—during those nine months all of the kicks and other physical feelings related to becoming a parent happen to the woman. The party allowed me to talk freely to my friends and feel connected to my baby before her birth.”

Other themes might be a ‘dress like a dad’ party and this will have to include ‘dad’ dancing! Or maybe all the lads would go out dressed as babies themselves. This is not quite the picturesque party that most expectant mothers have with the delicate decor and pretty snacks but a ‘manly’ party with poo resembling cupcakes and a constant reminder of ditching the beer bottles for milk bottles!
