The Oscar nominations have finally been unveiled, and as usual there are a few upsets that we need to talk about. Great movies have been left in the dust, while talented filmmakers, actors, actresses and beyond have been hung out to dry for lesser cinematic efforts. Let’s take a closer look at the 6 most unacceptable Oscar nomination snubs.Â
This one seemed to come down strictly to studio politics. Carol is a film anchored by two stand out performances from Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, but it’s clear to se in most people’s eyes that this is really Mara’s film. Many have said that Film 4 chose to put their bigger star (Cate Blanchett) in the running in order to get more publicity for the film, and they’re probably right. While it’s great to see a young talent like Rooney Mara get some credit for a best supporting actress nomination, it just seems bizarre that she and Blanchett couldn’t both battle it out in the main category.
