If you haven’t heard the news yet, I’m sorry to have to be the one that breaks it to you. The untitled Star Wars: Episode 8 has been pushed back 7 months from it’s original release date of May 26 2017, to December 2017. But before you let out an uncontrollable groan, we’re going to put forward an argument explaining why it’s probably not the worst news in the world. Here’s 5 reasons the Star Wars release delay is actually ok.
The well known fable of a race between a ridiculously arrogant hare and a humble but patient tortoise definitely applies to this scenario. The tortoise took his sweet time to cross that finish line, but he ended up winning the race. We definitely don’t want the next instalment in the widely adored sci-fi franchise to be rushed out. We want it to receive the same care, passion and attention to detail that J.J Abrams and his huge team clearly showed to this iconic and loved space saga.
Many have complained that the movie was a carbon copy of the original Star Wars movie, but we think the groundwork has been laid for a new and exciting direction for the series. That’s why it’s important for director Rian Johnson to take his time and make sure all of the stars are properly aligned.
