If you haven’t heard the news yet, I’m sorry to have to be the one that breaks it to you. The untitled Star Wars: Episode 8 has been pushed back 7 months from it’s original release date of May 26 2017, to December 2017. But before you let out an uncontrollable groan, we’re going to put forward an argument explaining why it’s probably not the worst news in the world. Here’s 5 reasons the Star Wars release delay is actually ok.

2. The Guardians Of The Galaxy sequel is out before!

If you’re looking to get your fix of galaxy and universe hopping adventure before December next year, Marvel have you got covered. The highly anticipated sequel to the surprisingly awesome sleeper hit Guardians Of The Galaxy is arriving at the end of April 2017. If you saw the first instalment, you’re probably aware of the awesome levels of action and laugh out loud comedy that the film’s characters are capable of. We’ll admit, the back and forth between Finn and Ray was pretty funny in The Force Awakens, but it can’t top the hilarious chaos of Vin Diesel’s tree character, Grute. The truth is that the release date was probably delayed for Star Wars because Disney didn’t want to compete with its own film, the latest Guardians Of The Galaxy instalment.
